quick update on Sandy & NJ

1. FEMA > sham operational used by pols to say we're here helping when they're not.
Femma offered to assist with some here on 'transitional housing', but locations are many miles from homes.
2. Gas lines /// with no power , no to little pumping available & therefore the 4 hour lines.
3. food big problem, if a restaurant is open (no staff or r materials/food to prepare for demand. most large food stores don't have refrigeration or very limited on, dry goods only.
4. most locals are(or have been) without power and can't see the TV broadcasts showing the extent of Sandy's destruction.
5. people and their very local communities have been extraordinary in helping their neighbors.

we evacuated our home the night before Sandy struck. Our home had 5 feet of river water on the lower level and I feel very lucky compared to some others. Some others have been dislocated and not allowed back to their homes staying with friends and family that have.
-Looting is a huge problem from what my friends at law enforcement tell me.
cell phones and ability to access wireless from have been huge.
we're all good and getting better with each day

I have a buddy in Oxford and was able to talk to him yesterday. He had hopes of getting power back on yesterday and he was able to get some fuel.

FEMA will get a pass, since a Dem is in the WH.

Hang in there. Hope it turns for the better soon.

The private sector donations are on the way Mike it a federal law for all gas stations to hM. Glad to see the community pulling together.

Two things. Community outreach programs through social media to other communities to get you exactly what you need.

And why isn't it a federal law for all gas stations to have generators?

Mike,
Is there anything I can send you directly that would help? I know supplies can be very limited for things like gas cans, water etc.

Please let me know.
