Political: Limbaugh apologizes

Just how valuable is a sociopath's act of contrition.
by bury sean hannity at wounded knee March 4, 2012 4:35 PM

Oh, I don't know, maybe as valuable has Mr. Obama's campaign promises for the 2008 election.
by lil_oh_me March 4, 2012 4:39 PM

Good start. Now how about liberal men apologizing?

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/04/rush-limbaugh-s-apology-liberal-men-need-to-follow-suit.html

Article by a liberal woman on a liberal site.

Good source, huh?

Hardly a peep from the right when Rush acted like the pill popping moron he is, but now that he says hes sorry, they show up like flies at a port-a-potty

Or maybe no one was interested or cared untill one of you own initiated the thread. (see thread author)

As my Dad used to say, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
by you started it March 4, 2012 8:32 PM

Sad thing is the only reason he apologized was to keep from losing several key sponsors.

by Vinnie The Leg Breaker March 4, 2012 8:34 PM

Perhaps as sad is the way the "victim" exploited her 15 minutes. ($.02 to Andy Warhol)
by you started it March 4, 2012 8:50 PM

I don't give a shit about the victim, if you can really call her that. She is the one that put herself out there for examination and/or ridicule.

What I meant by the sad thing was that he had to apologize to keep his sponsors since there was such an uproar. The uproar was just a simple way to silence Limbaugh.

I thought the liberals were all about free speech. I guess not when it doesn't fit their agenda.

by Vinnie The Leg Breaker March 4, 2012 9:00 PM

This POS happy Breitbart is dead!

http://m.newsbusters.org/blogs/rusty-weiss/2012/03/01/rolling-stone-breitbart-hes-dead-good

Don't forget Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin a cunt!
by capital4u March 4, 2012 9:22 PM

Nothing wrong with Bill Maher calling Palin cunt, same as nothing wrong with Limbaugh calling the law student a slut.

Both people have put themselves out into the public eye and media for examination and ridicule. If they don't like what the media says, then they shouldn't have put themselves in that position.
by Vinnie The Leg Breaker March 4, 2012 10:35 PM

I thought the liberals were all about free speech. I guess not when it doesn't fit their agenda.

by Vinnie The Leg Breaker March 4, 2012 9:00 PM

Voicing opinion with our wallets is capitalism. It has nothing to do with free speech as that is a limit on government, not free enterprise. Every time I hear someone say that or see someone write that, I wonder if they understand the concept of free speech. Nobody forced the Round Mound of Oxycontin to say stupid shit, and nothing prevents people who disagree from contacting the sponsors of his show and letting them know they will not purchase their product if they keep sponsoring. If the government made him apologize or shut his show down, THAT is a violation of free speech rights. You have just described a reaction to free speech with free speech of their own. He suffered the consequences of his actions. I thought you people believed in that? He wasn't punished by the government however, and if they tried, I and many who boycotted would protest like hell against such a move. Can you say the same if the government tried to shut down speech you disagree with?

by Thoughtforfood March 4, 2012 10:48 PM

Nice dense block of drivel, TFF.

Were you trying to make a point?

Capitalism, really? Nice shades dude, rose colored suits you.

You're not voting with your wallets, you're stomping your feet in a childish tantrum, not because of what Limbaugh said, but because it was Limbaugh who said it.
by you started it March 4, 2012 11:44 PM

The problem is that Limbaugh lied about the woman then riffed on his lie culminating in calling her a slut. It was completely untethered to reality. (Like most of the made up bullshit conservatives come up with on a daily basis)

It was a complete character assassination.

George Will had it right. Conservatives aren't afraid to bomb Iran but they are too chickenshit to call out Rush.

I certainly hope you soon discover why you have no clue. And....being annonymous on this page..I certainly can't offer to kick your fucking ass if you made such a statement to my or mine.

One can only hope that you that share such idiotic opinions lose the election. I'll leave it at that.

It's really difficult to even begin to explain why his opinion, which you mimic, is not only an insult, but in fact doesn't begin to address the issues involved.

Please reflect on your sorry life, even as it mostly exists perhaps on this site.

Frederic

Why is this crawling under your skin?

Limbaugh throws bombs to get ratings, who cares? Bill Maher also throws bombs to get ratings, who cares. Really, for most of the country who freakin cares.

Your dopey feign politically motivated outrage says nothing about Limbaugh or the "victim". It says allot about you.

Why anyone takes Rush, Savage, Maher, insert your favorite or non favorite radio/TV guy/gal serious is beyond me.

They are making a living talking about things and have no authority at all... sure they influence the weak minded and cause the weak minded to get all upset at what they say but they are nothing but entertainers.

I was driving through Pennsylvania a few years ago. It was about a eight hour ride so I switched on the radio. Each music station played only music that sucks. I kept pushing the search, each find was crap. I like classic and alternative rock.

I then tried am. Classical, wife’s not with me yay I can say it sucks, search. Christian, don't even go to Church, search. Then out of nowhere the voice of Rush Limbaugh brakes the monotony. I listened for about three minutes then hmmm, commercial. I hate commercials, but I endured the next five min or so I guess. Then Mr Limbaugh returned. Interesting chatter three minutes then five more of commercial. That was all I could stand. Turned radio off for awhile never listened to Rush Limbaugh again.

But on a positive note I started searching after about an hour, I picked up Clarion University Radio. It was awesome and I kept the station almost into Baltimore.

Marching orders, hahahahahaha. Here's a straw for you buddy.

Your party shits their pants if Limbaugh sneezes, your party has no platform without that bag of monkey shit. That isn't a straw. It's a thread that connects you to his Fatassness and Grover Norquist. Without them, you are an aimless bunch of self absorbed religious hypocrites.

Pull the string. Pull the string.

by Thoughtforfood March 5, 2012 12:15 PM

...you started it I would be very surprised if you had a mother, let alone a wife! Maybe in your world it's okay to define young women as sluts and prostitutes, only because they express their opinions in public? Using her freedom of speech, by your standards, she warrants ridicule and character assasination. IMO that fat ass dope fiend bully should be taken off the air. At least, maybe his communication platform, should be diminished to crying ass Beck's level. Perhaps they'll call his new show "Rush The Dope Fiend Comedy Hour", since he claims to be such a jokester!
by cspatmon March 5, 2012 12:34 PM

slut was a bad choice of word but his point is on target.

she chooses a very expensive school, then
wants taxpayers to pay so she doesn't
get pregnant or get aids.

with the strict requirements at georgetown
should she not accept these responsibilities
on her own?

this is one if congresses' problems, taking
valuable time to hear someone cry for
her right to have sex;stupid liberal
efforts to spend more money to get votes.

It has been acknowledged by many on here that he is strictly an entertainer without political influence to anyone with a brain, but yet hes invited to speak at the cpac.

Now, go find out what cpac is and get back to me.

by Unfair and Imbalanced March 5, 2012 1:12 PM

It's obvious NONE of the usual idiots here have actually seen the young lady's testimony. Limbaugh's comment skews what she addressed, in order for him to incite his followers.

Birth control is taken NOT just for birth control; it is commonly prescribed to various other female maladies. Cysts, menstral problems, etc.

My comment to YOU was meant for a little self reflection by you, which I'm well aware isn't your forte. And you are correct it pisses me off, for personal reasons. I'll leave it at that.

In your glee at proving how spot on your political viewpoints are, you abandon facts and common sense, not to mention simple common courtesy. Personally, I find that flaw in widespread abundance from so called conservatives.

Mr. Limbaugh only gave his non-apology because economics came to play in a way that penalized him. Good. Those of us with wives and daughters find his comments outrageous, to say the least.

One last note. One of the women whom cited, needed birth control medication for a life threatening illness. That woman, ironically, is gay.

I don't care what cpac is... I imagine it is something to do with Republicans because Limbaugh is a Republican and not being a Republican it makes no matter what they do as a group.

Let them have their little party... Limbaugh being somewhere was all over the news I would have ignored it because I don't think much of him at all.

You choose specific posts by specific people to make your pithy comments and don't address those of people who sit on your side of the political spectrum...when you live by the rules you admonish in others, you will be getting somewhere. Alas, you are a Republican and your native tongue is hypocrisy...sad...not too swift, are ya'?

I read it. It is on point, and I don't have a problem with it. What you seem incapable of understanding is that she doesn't take away a single thing from the fact that the Round Mound of Oxycontin deserves all the heat he is now receiving.

dblbogey2,

she said georgetown ins. covers health issues as it should so cover these but
not pregnancy.

That is NOT what I saw in the interview;
Nor does the right of any organization's belief trump health.

Regardless of cost of tuition at that institution if you pay for the service.

by Fredpa1 March 5, 2012 9:47 PM

fred,read her interview;she did say
the woman w/ ovarian issues were covered
by schools insurance-health needthat makes
sense.

she also stated husband/wives needing
contraceptives-means of preventing
pregnancy.

womens'rights aren't the issue nor
are illegals "rights" to live here ,accept
ss benefits;real issue is what it takes
to get obama another term-anything that
gets a vote is ok w/elitist liberals.

if he were so inclined to be pro women
rights, why not stand up against sharia
law movement?

sad,but fluke is being used like all other women,an end to his means.

by dblbogey2 March 6, 2012 10:11 AM

I have to disagree.

Here is a link to the transcript:

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/page/271051_Full_Transcript_of_Sandra_Fluk

In fact the woman was NOT covered. Keep in mind that according to her, this insurance is completely funded by the students, not the school.

If you read the transcript, the woman ended up with a cyst and subsequent removal of an ovarie.

Regarding sharia, the only analogy I can come up is that we also do not need law against the implementation of the Chinese or Russian systems of law. Much adieu about nothing.
by Fredpa1 March 6, 2012 12:47 PM

Fred,

You obviously don't live in Dearborn MI.

by YATI March 6, 2012 4:20 PM

fred : The entire basis of her testimony to the Democratic Steering Committee the next week was that she had "a friend" who had a medical problem that required her to take birth control pills. Georgetown's policy covers her friend's condition, Fluke said, but did not actually pay for the pills, which caused her friend to stop purchasing and taking the pills and, later, to suffer a medical emergency. It was all pretty vague, and certainly wasn't expert testimony.

does sandra or her friend have any money
at all? do all at georgetown receive a free
education?
i have bills galore for my wife and i plus
we help w/ granddaughters, yet if they
need a $9 a month for 36 months like
these two, should i tighten my belt,
cut costs or call my congressman?

read about her and WHO brought her and WHY
she was selected over a pastor and you find
she's a popular feminist steeped in these
liberal movements;she was and is to appear
as pro women rights yet her actions are
self serving now and after law school.

again her friend should be asking why
georgetown didn't cover,not federal govt.
by dblbogey2 March 7, 2012 12:02 PM

Limbaugh is truly stupid and is very eager to talk trash and as such he does it untimely, thus, the reason he got socered into that topic and when he reacted accordingly, he scred himself. There is no amount of regrets that will relief him of his mess. He'll live with it and make more mistakes.
