Political: True or false: Domestic energy exploration has increased under Obama.

Give it your best shot. We'll grade on a curve.

.... and it's effect is visible at the pump.
i hear the over/under for spring & summer is $4.05

I love Barry - i'm looking for the 30 year to go below 2 1/2% next year.
thanks buddy.

why is no one and especially the talking heads on mainstream media, discussing the fact that all the oil we recover now domestically is sold to others at a higher profit and then have us purchase fuel from other providers at a higher cost? am i missing something? i suspect that even if we did increase our domestic recovery of fuel- it will still be sold to others and we would continue to pay what others charge us?! does this make any sense at all?
by dark pool February 22, 2012 3:17 PM

MN Loans: I wasn't going to post the grades publicly if that's what you were worried about.

I thought T/F would be simple enough. I guess not.

Not sure how I can dumb down these posts any more than that. Oh well.
by That's funny! February 22, 2012 3:18 PM

does this make any sense at all?
by dark pool February 22, 2012 3:17 PM

It does if you are an oil company or a commodities trader.
by That's funny! February 22, 2012 3:22 PM

that's the point. who's "fault" is it that we are paying retail on something we should be paying wholesale? it's our damn oil! why don't we have first dibs, reasonably priced fuel for our citizens, before we ship it off across the borders???
by dark pool February 22, 2012 3:35 PM

I don't know Ancho, let's check the facts according to the Institute for Energy Research.

Beyond that before you start your spin define what you are calling domestic energy exploration? Are talking only oil & gas or are you including "green energy research"? Can never be sure where the symantics may be with you.

Assuming that exploration for fossil fuels has increased under Obama shouldn't you and the other leftists have aproblem with this? I mean you all want to push your "green" agenda. Wouldn't this go against that?

Are you against all of this domestic energy exploration? You don't like big oil companies so unless you want to be a hypocrite then you must not like it. Do tell...

by ConservativeMe February 22, 2012 3:37 PM

"t's our damn oil! why don't we have first dibs"

Because that is "socialism" and as you know, socialism is bad. Very bad.
by That's funny! February 22, 2012 4:07 PM

that's not socialism, that's just taking care of ourselves first. should be on every politicians agenda, whether red or blue - or reddish violet for that matter lol!
by dark pool February 22, 2012 4:20 PM

I have a perpetual energy device I want to sell electricity from, will cut your electric bills in half.
by imtobinsmith February 22, 2012 4:21 PM

Even with this being a true/false question, it's still a loaded question.

I'll go with political favors for $500 please.

by doccustodian February 22, 2012 4:22 PM

"that's just taking care of ourselves first."

Sorry grasshopper: You used the word "ourselves"

Ourselves = socialism

Individual/every man for himself = capitalism

But if it's any consolation I feel your pain.

Respond to CM's link, TF. Stop deflecting, you got what you asked for.
by Masher February 22, 2012 6:38 PM

"Respond to CM's link, TF. Stop deflecting, you got what you asked for."

TO clarify, I asked for true or false. I understand how someone like you could easily miss that point.

I also understand that even the simplest things can be issues for many others. ConservativeMe offered up a bunch of sweeping generalizations about what I supposedly think so naturally I took a pass.

He already knows what I think therefore what more do I need to add?

Or do you want me to address the EXXON-Koch brothers funded "research" entity that COnservativeMe referenced?
by That's funny! February 22, 2012 6:53 PM

Let me clarify the inference then, Nitwit.
CM is saying false, and providing a link to support.
by Masher February 22, 2012 7:16 PM

Sorry Ancho,

I went for the extra credit and showed my work.

As far as what you think; who the hell knows. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds and you never offer anything but talking points.

This for example. If you are the leftist loon you appear to be then you should be outraged at the thought of Obama increasing exploration of fossil fuel supplies. That would go against your green agenda. Yet you post this as if you are proud of the fact there are claims he has increased it. Well, which is it? Either he has done it and "gasp" you don't agree with Barry or you are okay with him betraying the left's green agenda. Please clarify for us which it is.

tf is right for once;exploration,
domestically is up on obamas' watch
but the reason is the high prices of

domestic producers can not drill,profitably
until prices start hitting 90+/barrel.

we're at 105 now,down from 145 when here in
tn,we paid about 3.70 for regular;we're
now paying 3.50.so what is the point?

gw was hailed as the big oils' friend
and was slammed for their high profits,so is
gw still the MAN? answer of course is NO.

obama is allowing this and no one but
fox is airing for us.

why doesn't obama do something to our big
oil people?our energy czar must be in a
coma,much like his king.

Do a quick check to see if energy exploration on federal land is up or down, or if the increases involve exploration on privately owned land such as is the case with the Bakken area. I think you will find that in the areas the Obama administration could restrict or slow down....they have done so. They haven't given up on mucking things up in the privately owned areas yet either. To the extent exploration is up, it is in spite of Obama.....and not because of Obama. Facts are a tough thing to deal with, though.
by adelphos February 23, 2012 10:57 AM

"Do a quick check to see if energy exploration on federal land is up or down."

Why drill when prices are low(er)?

Your first mistake is believing that oil entities rush in to drill every time they think the can pump a little oil.

You must think it's the same as a person frantically trying to capture $100 floating from the sky.
