Am I A Genius....

..or an idiot?

During my daily grind at work...I have repetitive computer entries.

Is there a keyboard that can store (save) these entries and be called upon with a simple single stroke of a "memory key"?

by ScarletteAndGray November 4, 2009 9:50 PM

Cant you program macros into the "f" keys at the top of the keyboard?
by csanders1962 November 4, 2009 9:56 PM

csanders is correct

I took COBOL74 in high school and there were many, many repetitive entries.

We would program F1 - F12 and know what each did by heart.

Have not done it in over 20 years but you're on the right track

I haven't heard COBOL muttered in like 20 years...that brings back memories.

All my F(in)keys are pre-programmed....no idea how to change them.

what type of entries or screen are you trying to auto-fill?

is it a typical 'Loan Origination System' (LOS)??

if so, or similar, they may have options to 'auto populate' somewhere in the system.

if not, continue on your quest..

If you can wheedle your way into doing whatever you're doing on Adobe Acrobat (not the reader but the actual pdf writer) you can manage that.

If it's the latest and greatest Acrobat 9.0, it'll damn near get you coffee while it takes dictation from you so you don't have to mess up the fresh manicure it just gave you. That is an AMAZING program.

yup, back then the function (F) keys were vacant; ready to be progammed for such tasks.

maybe not that way anymore, seems there's no vacancy:

Nah...can't auto populate...unfortunately.

I bet a 7 year old Chinese kid could get this done

either way, good question

Are you talking about maybe an imacro?

Firefox has an addon for that.
