They are probably more open and tolerant in Iran than they are in Maine, right?

To be fair, it reads like he's saying that the Iranian PEOPLE are the ones issuing ""...powerful calls for justice, and their courageous pursuit of universal rights.""
And he'd pretty much be right.
Still, I can't read what he wrote there and not think of two divergent thoughts:
1. That reads like it was written by someone who just doesn't understand and cannot comprehend Iran acting like evil fascist theocrats. You can almost see him saying "Hey, come on, I'm being nice to you so you have to be nice to me...why are you guys jerking me around?"
It's because they're fucking terrorists Barry. And playing nice only works when you have two people willing to play nice, which brings me to...
2. Can you imagine the same Official Statement by President Bush? Blunt and to the point...
"You'd best drop your nuke bullshit and mind your own ranch hyou sawed off little bastard, 'cause wash day is comin' for all you towel-heads and I've got the fucking Maytag."
Or President McCain? Formality, issued by a 20+ year sailor who could probably still chew an anchor in half...
"My friend, I'm a peaceful man.
But if you insist on causing further trouble with the US and our allies, I'll have no choice but to have the Navy stick me in a missile silo on a boomer and launch me into Teheran, where I will personally head-butt every single Qods Agent and Hezbollah scout in the city to death. Then, and only then, will I come for you, freeing you to meet Allah after sending you into cardiac arrest by the sheer force of a swearing tirade the likes of which no one on this planet has ever heard."
THE point being: say what you want about Bush or McCain, but neither one of them would be so utterly naive as to think that a terrorist regime going on 30 YEARS old neither knows how the world expects it to act nor understands that what it's doing may be considered 'foul play'.

Bush and McCain would never bow down to Iran because they were too busy bending over for the terrorist regime in Saudi Arabia... 9-11
